Alex builds AskAds, an AI assistant that manages Meta ad accounts through conversation. He also builds FetchLayer, the structured social-data API behind the practitioner research in these guides, and has spent over ten years building data infrastructure for developer and AI tooling.
Why these guides exist
Most writing about Meta ads restates what Meta's own documentation says. That is the version of the platform as designed, and it is often not the version advertisers meet. The guides here are built from a different source: what people running real budgets report in public, on r/FacebookAds, r/PPC and among media buyers on X, dated and cited so you can check the claim yourself.
That research is collected with FetchLayer, a structured social-data API I also build. Where practitioners disagree — and on the questions that matter they usually do — the guides keep both positions rather than flattening a live argument into a rule.
What I work on
AskAds is an AI assistant for paid advertising. It connects to a Meta ad account, reads live performance data, and proposes every change for explicit approval before anything is written — no autonomous spending, no silent edits.
FetchLayer is the structured data API behind the research: Reddit, X, App Store reviews and YouTube comments, returned as data rather than HTML.
Where to find me
Code is on GitHub, longer writing on Medium, and the professional history on LinkedIn. Corrections to a guide are welcome at [email protected] — the field notes are dated and are meant to be revised when the platform moves.
